The article analyzes the current methodology for testing the environmental safety of diesel engines, considers the processes of inertial loading of the engine with a sharp movement of the fuel pedal with an exit to the external correction branch. Features of adjusting the device for changing the speed mode of the diesel engine to achieve the specified parameters of the time of action on the fuel pedal are presented. Based on the results of the studies, changes are proposed to the methodology for testing environmental safety
